Unique Auctions 24th March Fine Antiques & Collectors sale features a very unique, one-of-a-kind set of Royal Navy Ship’s Badges. The badges are from all the Ships, Boats, Naval Air Squadrons, Royal Fleet Auxilliaries and RMAS that served in the Falkland’s Campaign.
The designer, William Travell, served on HMS Invincible during the Falkland’s War, and on his return was commissioned to create a set of badges. The shields are all hand created and painted, on oak wood from an 18th Century wooden footbridge that used to span the River Colne at Iver.
The only other badges, created by the same designer are a set of shields consisting of those ships that was lost during the Falkland’s Campaign. This set is on display at the Royal British Legion, Lee-on-Solent.
The Collection has an estimate of £2,000-£3,000. If you have any questions regarding this unique collection please call Unique Auctions on 01522 690444.
