Two rare compasses will be of interest to collectors at Unique Auctions Antiques and Collectors auction on the 27th and 28th January. The compasses include a Georgian pocket sundial / compass (probably Charles Nephew & Co Calcutta) and a late Victorian W. Gregory & Co. British Army Marching Compass (c.1900).
Full compass description
A Georgian pocket sundial / compass (probably Charles Nephew & Co Calcutta), the sundial with paper dial, the lid with calendar inscribed “Fast means that the clock should be faster than the dial, slow, slower”. In mahogany case, 5.5cm square. Dial covered by cased dome.
