An unusually large collection of Taxidermy is coming up for sale at Unique Auction’s 3-Day March sale Friday 22nd March – Sunday 23rd March 2019. The collection comes from a private estate and includes Oriental Japanese pheasants; a Great Crested Grebe; wading birds; small garden birds; Long Eared Owls, Snowy Owls and Barn Owls; dioramas’ of exotic birds under glass domes. The collection also consists of bats, lizards and scorpions’, foxes and antlers, plus shell and bird collages in wall mounted domes.
All examples are Victorian to early 20th century, and are accurate in detail. They are all skilfully presented in realistic settings with detailed groundwork.
The collection has been well preserved in glass domes of all shapes and styles – mahogany and bamboo cases, and trophy mounted, and are in excellent condition.
