About Avie’s Fund
Avaline (Avie to her friends and family) is almost 6 years old. She is severely autistic and money is being raised to help continue her ABA Therapy. There is only partial funding for the this therapy and it is the only hope for children like Avie. Prior to her ABA she had no communication skills whatsoever, lived entirely in a world of her own and spent a good deal of her time frightened and screaming. She was in fact like an eighteen month old baby in the body of a five year old. She required constant watching and supervision. She placed everything in her mouth, had poor eye contactand it was almost impossible to teach her anything. In fact she found life and the world around very confusing and frightening.
ABA has given Avie a means in which she can learn finally. It is not a ‘magic bullet’ and has taken lots of hard work and commitment, but we are seeing amazing results from the therapy. Currently she receives around 10-15 hours of ABA per week – the recommended amount is 30 hours + per week but because we fund raised/paid for her ABA ourselves we can only afford 10-15, but even with this small amount the results have been staggering.
With the help of ABA she can now Smile, understand some of the things you say to her and is beginning to communicate. She can now say yum-yum, mum, nana and daddy. You can learn more about Avie’s Fund at https://www.facebook.com/aviesfund
